Ever too late to reconnect?

Is it ever too late to reconnect?

To reach back out? Even after a while.

It’s that time of year where mailboxes, inboxes and social feeds are abundant with various styles of well-wishing.

Both personal and professional, a final greeting until we start fresh in a new year.

As faces flicker and memories shuffle, feelings follow for people we haven’t connected with in a long time. Joy. Longing. Guilt.

For past colleagues and coworkers, neighbors or roommates, even close friends from other decades of life.

What stops us from reaching out when we feel the urge?
A fear of falling flat? Being ignored, judged, dismissed or misunderstood?

Now consider how it feels when someone reaches out to us…

After a few recent pangs and ponderings, an opportunity arose to state my belief in a meeting at work:

I believe it’s never too late to reconnect. To get back in touch. Just for a moment. A brief exchange. To say “Hello, I remember you. I remember you well. And I hope you are well and healthy now.”
